Who are We?
The Seacoast Area Fibromyalgia/CFIDS/Chronic Pain Support Group
is dedicated to educating ourselves and everyone we meet about
our condition. We feel our knowledge gives us a measure of power
and control over our condition. We may have the illness BUT it
doesn't have us - and we refuse to let it victimize us again. We
keep current and up-to-date regarding the latest treatment modalities
and have an extensive library to offer which is available for your
perusal. Most of our members are available via the telephone to offer
any assistance you may need or answer any question you may have.
Having been down the same road as you, they are eager to help ease the
way for someone else. We respect your rights to privacy and whatever
is said during a support group meeting stays in that meeting.
Confidentiality is requested of- and expected from - all who attend
our meetings. Family members are welcome, if desired, with the
understanding that they also must agree to respect our members rights
a privacy and confidentiality. For your convenience, below lists some
local meeting times and places. If you need further information or
have questions please feel free to contact anyone listed. If we don't
have the answers we will either get them for you or point you in the
right direction.
There is a popular misconception regarding support groups.
Many feel that support groups serve no valid purpose and the
people that attend support group meetings just sit around and whine
and cry and feel sorry for themselves. Nothing could be further
from the truth. The primary reason for the existence of the Seacoast
Area Fibromyalgia/CFIDS/Chronic Pain Support Group - or any other
support group for that matter- is to provide support to those who come
to us in need~ We accomplish this goal by genuinely caring for and
respecting all who seek us out. All to often we find the people who
come to us feel that the support group is a last resort. These victims
are almost devoid of hope. Even though the physical and emotional pain
they feel is mal. they begin to doubt themselves. They feel no one
cares - no one believes - no one knows what they are experiencing.
THEY ARE WRONG
WE believe - WE care - WE know -WE understand, and because we do we
can offer them something precious
HOPE
